CGSS UNDERGOES ORGANISATIONAL AND STAFFING SELF-ASSESSMENT AUDIT (AKPO) EXERCISE
UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA (USM), PENANG, 30th June 2026 – The Centre for Global Sustainability Studies (CGSS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), welcomed the Organisational and Staffing Self-Assessment Audit (AKPO) team as part of its continuous efforts to strengthen organisational governance, enhance service delivery, and ensure that its organisational structure and staffing remain aligned with the University’s current needs. The audit, held at the CGSS Conference Room, comprised an opening session, document review, interviews with officers and staff, and a closing session chaired by the Director of CGSS together with the audit team.
The AKPO audit aims to assess the suitability of an organisational structure, functional roles, work distribution, and staffing requirements at the Responsibility Centre (PTJ) level. It also serves as a platform to identify opportunities for improvement in organisational governance, human resource management, and service delivery in line with the aspirations of Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Throughout the audit, CGSS extended its full cooperation to the audit team by providing supporting documents, sharing relevant information, and clarifying the Centre’s functions and operations. The audit was conducted in a professional, constructive, and open environment, allowing both parties to exchange views and discuss recommendations for organisational enhancement. The audit concluded with several recommendations aimed at further strengthening the management and operations of CGSS. The Centre welcomes these constructive recommendations and remains committed to reviewing and implementing appropriate follow-up actions as part of its continuous improvement initiatives.
CGSS extends its sincere appreciation to the audit team for their valuable insights and recommendations, as well as to all CGSS staff for their commitment and cooperation throughout the audit process. It is hoped that the outcomes of this audit will further strengthen CGSS’s governance practices and service excellence, in line with USM’s aspiration to be a university driven by excellence and sustainability.
