UNIVERSITAS BENGKULU STRENGTHENS ACADEMIC TIES WITH USM TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
PENANG, 14 October 2025 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), through its Centre for Global Sustainability Studies (CGSS), welcomed a delegation from Universitas Bengkulu, Indonesia, led by Dr. Adityo Pratikno Ramadhan, Deputy Dean of Financial and General Affairs, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Also present was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sugeng Suharto, MM., M.Si, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Bengkulu.

The visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration and cross-institutional learning in advancing the shared commitment to sustainable development, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The delegation, comprising academic staff, officers, and students, was warmly received by Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Wira Mohd Shafiei, Director of CGSS, together with Associate Professor Dr. Ng Theam Foo, Associate Professor Dr. Japareng Lalung, Dr. Suzyrman Sibly, and officers and staff of CGSS.
A sharing session showcased USM’s diverse sustainability efforts and flagship programmes, emphasizing the university’s integrated approach to education, research, and community engagement in achieving the SDGs.
Through the session, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to advancing education, research, and community engagement efforts that support SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The visit concluded with a token of appreciation presented to Dr. Adityo, followed by a group photo and afternoon tea, symbolising the spirit of friendship and meaningful collaboration between Universitas Bengkulu and Universiti Sains Malaysia.
